Last month, I
wrote on the connection between candidate-for-senate Joe Sestak (PA) and candidate-for senate Andrew Romanoff (CO), both democrats challenging an incumbent democrat U.S. senator in the 2010 primaries. Allegations have been made that the White House attempted to bribe both of them out of their primary campaigns. In Romanoff's case, "several top Colorado democrats" made the allegations. In Sestak's case, he himself went on record making the allegations.
A straightforward reading (the true definition of "is") of 18 USC §211 informs that such bribery is a crime. I suggested, as others have, that if the allegations are true, then an evidence trail should exist.
In a letter to White House counsel, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) has now
requested data pertaining to that evidence trail. Issa wants the data by March 18. The White House is in no-comment mode. I suspect they are trying to figure out what their definition of "is" is.
